5.07 INFORMATION EXCHANGES

Documents the information exchanges created as part of the planning process in the BEP.

  1. Information Exchange Name: The name of the information exchange.
  2. Information Exchange: A description of the purpose and general contents of the information exchange.
  3. Milestone: The milestone that is associated with the information.
  4. Information Sender: The responsible party for creating the information.
  5. Information Receiver(s): The organization(s) to receive the file.
  6. Frequency: The frequency of the information exchange.
  7. Due Date: The date the initial (if iterative) or final (if one-time) submission is due.
  8. Information Location: The path to the location of the information exchange.
  9. Information Modeling Authoring Software: The software used to develop the information.
  10. Native Information Source Format: Native data source type, e.g., a specific file type.
  11. Information Exchange Format(s): Information exchange format, e.g., IFC, other open formats, other proprietary formats.
  12. BIM Use: The name of the BIM Use that develops the information exchange.
  13. Required by Contract: A value to define whether an information exchange is required by contract.
  14. Permitted Use: The future BIM Uses that can rely upon this information.
  15. Required Approvals: The approvals that are necessary for the information exchange.
  16. Required IE Delivery Procedure: The process to be completed to deliver the information exchange.
  17. Information Exchange Definition: The location of the information exchange definition requirements, which could be a defined Information Definition Specification (IDS), a Model Element Table (MET) definition, or another information exchange.
  18. Model Element Table: A table that defines the level of development and level of information required for the content to be included in an information exchange.
    1. Information Exchange Name: The name of the information exchange
    2. The categorical breakdown structure for the model elements.
    3. Model Element Category Table: A table with the LOD, Level of Information (LoI), Level of Accuracy (LoA), information format, and author for each model element category.
      1. Model Element Category: The categorical number or value for the model elements, e.g., CSI Uniformat, Uniclass, etc.
      2. Model Element Category Name: The name of the category, e.g., foundations.
      3. Level of Development: The level of development value from the defined LOD definitions.
      4. Level of Information: The model information that can be relied upon within the information exchange.
      5. Information Format: The geometric format for the modeled geometry (2D/3D/data).
      6. Model Element Author: The model element author for the category of elements.
      7. Notes: Notes of value for the model planners or developers.
